Welcome to the Manitoba First Nation Youth Council Website. I congratulate the Youth Council with their initiative and commitment in making this event a reality. Initiatives like this are absolutely essential to achieving the goals of First Nations. We must ensure that our youth are involved in the events of the day, that their interests are reflected in decision-making and that they have opportunities to develop the sophisticated skills and knowledge required to carry through with the First Nation agenda.

This website should be seen as one step in the process of developing our approaches for involving youth and for addressing their current and future needs. They already have accomplishments such as: organizing the Manitoba First Nation Youth Council, participating in the development of a national First Nation youth strategy and getting involved with the leadership nationally, regionally or locally. We've all gained from your efforts so far. I am certain that this website will move us much further ahead.

I look forward to our continuing work together and to creating opportunities for First Nation youth.
